Additional Product informations

How to measure tyre wear?

To measure the wear on your road tyres and to know when they need replacing, you need to inspect the tread. Signs of wear include: - tread starting to fray- the appearance of a series of micro cracks- low tread depth- the carcass becomes visible. In all these cases the tyre is worn and needs replacing.

How to remove a tyre

To remove your tyre, you need to deflate the inner tube until no more air comes out.Once deflated, use a tyre lever to remove the tyre from the rim.

How to fit a tyre

To put the tyre back on, place one side of the tyre into the bottom of the rim. Next, inflate your inner tube to approximately 30% before putting it into the tyre (inflating it beforehand reduces the risk of pinching the inner tube). Then, place the other side of the tyre into the rim, starting on the side opposite the valve. Before inflating the inner tube all the way, check to make sure it isn't pinched between the tyre and the rim.

How to inflate your tyre correctly

Inflate your tyre with caution. The recommended pressure is indicated on the tyre's sidewall and its product sheet (available online). Before each outing, make sure that your tyres are at the correct pressure for your ride.

Tip from the pros

When inflating your tyre, make sure you inflate it to the suitable pressure for the terrain you will be riding on and, above all, the weather conditions you will be riding in. When riding in rainy weather, lower the tyre pressure to increase the tyre's traction. On the other hand, when riding in dry weather, increase the pressure for better performance.

Go anywhere training tire

I've done about 1000km on these tires, fitted to my winter bike, including Strada Bianchi and the feared climb of the Alpe Rossombolmo. I weighed the tires as 215g, which is pretty good for a 25mm training tire. They are a narrow 24mm on my Open Pro rims. Don't over-inflate them. For my 80kg, 95lbs is fine. By accident I pumped them to 120lbs on one ride and they were very uncomfortable. You will also loose grip if they are overinflated, esp. in the wet. The tires are very robust, I've used them on trails and they resist well. I'm surprised at how well they roll. As fast as my old 23mm Hutchinsons but more comfortable. I live in the S. of France so mostly ride in the dry so cannot comment too much on the wet performance. They seemed ok on the little I've ridden them in the damp but I usually dial it back a bit when the conditions get sketchy.

Avoid at all costs

Hmm, these tyres are quite frankly terrible. After two offs in 5 weeks I chucked them in the bin and bought something decent. If you only ever cycle in the dry and in the summer you may find these ok, but if you venture out in the wet and cold (i.e. late autumn through to early spring) then you'll have the problem as me. They simply have no grip at all in those conditions. Considering they are marketed as an all season tyre this is bizarre. If you search for reviews online you'll find that one magazine summed these up as the worst winter tyres they'd ever tested. Enough said.
